[craftcollective] Knots: What Every Gatherer Should Know

I'd love to make moccasins, where and what time?
How much material do I need?
I have a little bit of heavy commercial leather, and itty-tiny scraps, so I
might have to watch and learn for another time. I s'pose I could always do
the soles with y'all, and then knit the uppers like my folks' favorite
slippers.
If anyone wants to learn leather carving (the kind used on Old Western
saddles & cowboy gear), I learned it in 4-H. I have the basic tools, dyes,
and scraps to practice on. It's more suitable for stiff things like
wallets, belts, and armor than for soft-fitting shoes, tho. It works on
vegetable and sometimes chrome tanned, not so much on brain-tanned or boiled
leather. (you have to get the leather wet again to work on it, then dry it
out before final dying and finishing.)
Yours,
Erica
